Plex for Kodi add-on plays via network while Plex server is on the same laptop

Server Version#: 1.19.2.2737
Addon Version#: 0.1.6
Kodi Version#: 17.6
Platform: macOS 10.15.4

I have a Plex server installed on an old MacBook with Ubuntu installed on it. It already has a few clients in my local network.
Recently I came up with an idea to use this exact MacBook as a Plex client (+ Youtube, something else maybe) for one of my TVs. I consider connecting it by HDMI and using Kodi. It allows to watch both Plex and Youtube and easily control it all via regular TV remote control.

The issue that concerns me: Plex for Kodi add-on connects to Plex server via network despite they are on the same machine. I checked it by disabling network adapter. Plex web UI (on http://127.0.0.1:32400) can play local library even without network connectivity. Plex for Kodi shows that “No servers found” in that case.

As far as I understand it is because the add-on has doesn’t discover local Plex server. Discover works only via network. In my case it seems like a network overhead. Like why would it stream content via router if it can take it from 127.0.0.1?

I don’t know if it a bug or a feature to request. Or just me missing something.
Please help sort it out!
Thanks.
