I probably did not accurately formulate my problem. I do not have tracking in plex video playback in an external player.
Plex for kodi on android tv does not mark item as watched if kodi is set for external player.
I donāt think it is possible that this addon would know what time an external player stopped playing a video.
Why do you use an external player, Kodi plays everything?

I use the Firestick 4k and watch Plex as an addon in Kodi (18.4). I like the screen shots shown above but I am confused on how to actually install the mod. My PMS runs on an iMac with my library on an external hard drive. I read above when it says to configure Plex to load as a service but Iām not too completely sure how to do that or place the files on the C: drive. Are you talking about the C: drive on the iMac or on the Firestick? I would think it would be on the Firestick since that is my external player and that is where I want to see the changes when I turn on my TV. The only time I go on the PMS is when I add new media. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.
These are changes to the player not the server.
Before you abandon Kodi, please, fix the sort by album in music libraries.
Plex Kodi addon is the only way I can listen to my 5.1 mixes.

I really wish there was a Kodi plugin with the TV interface of plexmediaplayer.
It makes no sense why they donāt support Kodi plugins, as its pretty much the most universal āplatformā for media players.

Yes, there is some work being done (albeit sporadically) to fix issues and keep the addon working through Kodi changes. There have also been quite a few community contributions as well, with a big shout out to @panni for most of the Python 3 compatibility work (i.e. Kodi 19) and more.

Pardon my self-reply but my post yesterday seems to be have been removed.
My question was > why is it that the PLEX for kodi app couldnāt find my plex server, when the PLEX for Samsung smart TV app can, along with the PLEX for Android app on the same Android box can access the sever without issue. All are on the same home network.!!

What is the long term plan for this addon? Is it ever gonna be āfirst class citizenā in terms of new features etc. ?
I have bought an otherwise great hardware device based on kodi to serve as my plex client, but I had no clue that this addon is not updated for so long and missing all the latest plex client features.
It would be nice to have some information to make more informed decisions in the future.
The Plex plugin stopped working for me ages ago. I switched to PlexKodiConnect, and it works far better than the old Plex plugin ever did.
