Plex addon for KODI 20 Not Working

Server Version#: 1.30.1.6562
Addon Version#: 0.3.5

If you guys have not updated to KODI 20 yet, you better stay away from that update for now, at least until current issues get fixed which has appeared after updating KODI. There’re still lots of addons (like Plex) “damaged” after updating.

It just gets stuck at the login, the 3 dots stays forever there, like if there will be some communication problem or authentication issue against the server, so it never logs in.

Please fix this asap :disappointed_relieved:

God, whenever they update many addons they stop being compatible, and I have many downloaded and reinstalling them installing the version of kodi 19.5 is a total nuisance

I’m going to have to be alert when they repair it and if a while passes and they don’t, it’s time to go back to kodi 19.5 since PLEX is my most used addon

Plex devs have to fix this, correct? Every update of Kodi breaks something and never adds anything I need, sigh…

Hi,
Same for me, the add on doesn’t work anymore and without it I can’t use plex anymore.

Same here, Kodi 20.0, PLEX won’t launch, and it’s really annoying…
I should have disabled the automatic updates.
Hope this will be fixed soon.

The same here, KODI has been updated automatically. Plex for Kodi stopped loading.

Same problem here :exploding_head::exploding_head:

Ditto - it was an auto update by my Matricom G-Box and the add-on (most used and better than the android app) most used!!

also with my Nvidia Shield

Totally agree, the Plex Kodi addon is way better than the android app, and is definitely the most used addon.

Hopefully devs would be able to address the issue soon enough and so it’ll be fixed asap :crossed_fingers: :four_leaf_clover:

You’re right the addon for kodi is most optimized than the android app, that is the only reason why i use kodi

My only solution is a downgrade version step back to kodi 19.5 matrix, at least until they update the addon to work on kodi 20.0

I’m using this fork for now - works fine: Unofficial Kodi Repo · Issue #28 · pannal/plex-for-kodi · GitHub - you’ll need to add it as a custom repository in Kodi.

Another option is Composite (looks a bit different, but works just fine).

Thanks for offering these 2 temp solutions, at least until the official addon gets fixed, hopefully these will work as expected :+1:

BTW the “unofficial repo” you mentioned, is called “Don’t Panic”

Good news on the alternatives offered before. Tried yesterday both of them:

1) On the repo called “Don’t Panic” (link provided above by @greebs777) once added to your sources you’ll be able to install what looks is an old Plex addon version but is working flawlessly with the latest Kodi v20. So you’ll have 2 Plex addons installed (the official/useless for now) and the alternative (working addon).

2) The other video addon is called Composite (an alternative Plex client, available on the official Kodi repo), this one basically allows you to browse (as folders) the different “videos” available or served by the Plex server you’re connecting to, so also as an alternative could be a temporary side solution.

Beware the 2nd alternative, is still affected by several issues as reported by users on the Kodi forum.

Thanks again @greebs777 for these alternatives, specially on these moments, when the official addon is useless on Kodi 20. :1st_place_medal: :clap:t3:

Did anybody hear any updates from Plex?

Thank you. I just installed the “Don’t panic” addon and it seems to be working great !

I am not sure I understand what you mean…
I just installed the Plex add-on from the “don’t panic” repository (from this link : https://pannal.github.io/dontpanickodi/)
Same as PlexMod on your link, no ? Am I wrong ?

Are you two the only ones, that don’t get, that there is already a fix, linked one/two posters above?

Easy flow. While that is indeed a workaround, it’s hardly a fix for the native client that is included with, and broken, on the latest Kodi.

Thanks to all for pointing us in the direction of PlexMod for the time being
