I have some files that were played well on both my computer with Plex App or Plex on a web browser and my Plex for LG WebOS.
My SD card on my raspberry crashed and I installed a fresh system and manage to keep the plex db. All my files are played nicely on my computer but not anymore on my Plex for LG WebOS.
Like I’m on the same network, I tried to check if the transcode was disabled (PMS > Transcoder > Disable video stream transcoding + Plex for LG App > Video > Local Quality > Original, Remote Quality > Original). I tried to play around with Allow Direct Play, Allow Direct Stream… but nothing.
In the log, it seems like Plex is trying to transcode and I don’t understand why.
I suppose that there is a new option in the Plex for LG App that appeared and break this.
I saw some other people having the same issues on the forum but I tried the solution and it doesn’t work.
@philpw99_gmail_com: Can’t see your reply anymore but I tried to reset the app with no success. Altought, those files that I can play anymore, I was able to see them before. Do you think it’s possible that my TV can’t read it anymore?
I deleted my reply because I just found out resetting the app won’t fix my problem.
My files was playing just fine before. I can see in play details that DTS was re-encoded into AC3. Then just one week or two ago it suddenly became a mess. I think it’s an update from LG screwed it up. There is no way to fix it by changing anything in Plex.
AVI is an old format. Has audio sync problems for a long time.
MP4 and MKV are much better.
Plex is just a server, it’s supposed to just transfer files and no heavy-liftings, so Pi4 is fine as long as you don’t do any transcoding.
If you go to WebOS app settings and select about you can confirm if there is a fix. You must have opted in for Preview which it looks like you have done so.
