Plex for Linux/Windows without an account?

Server Version#: plexmediaserver_1.40.2.8395-c67dce28e_amd64
Player Version#: Plex for Linux/Windows 1.94.1.155

Can I connect to a server on local network using a desktop application without an account? On the server I set enableLocalSecurity=“0” and allowedNetworks="192.168.0.1/24, but the program does not find the server.

Plex cannot be used without signing into an account.

If I signing into an account, but do not have Internet access in future. Will the plex work in local network?

No. You cannot use Plex without a semi-permanent internet connection.

Thanks for your reply!

Fixing this in the future would be a good idea. I installed PLEX to see how it stacks up to Emby and so far I’m not impressed.

Emby if I lose internet thus access to my online TV services I can still use Emby till the Internet is back up.

Emby server in on installed OS does not affect a Emby server installed in in another OS installed on the same machine. PLEX wants to access both servers which means unlike Emby part of PLEX is constantly online. That was a poor design feature on PLES’s part.
