Whenever new content is being added to the library the Plex app on Mac goes absolutely crazy, refreshing the UI elements tons of times which causes playback to actually stop… This never happened before. Started happening last week maybe?
It looks like they’re accidentally refreshing the entire DOM rather than just the elements that need to be updated?
happening multiple times per second.
No. Always had it on anyway and this wasn’t an issue. Find it odd it’s a db corruption. No indication of that.
This is only happening when Plex is busy scanning a new show added (for example) and generating previews. Never happens otherwise and as stated, only started happening last week.
I actually did a full DB clean and deep-restore earlier today, just to check if there were any issues from that.
This seems unrelated.
Seems since last update whenever a folder scan is happening the UI goes crazy and is unusable.
Same situation for me. Constant crashes with Live TV or playing of files on Plex for Mac but seemingly stable with Plex for AppleTV.
I upgraded PMS last week to 1.40.0.7998-c29d4c0c8 amd64.
I upgraded Plex for Mac yesterday to v.1.87.2
This seems to be a workaround for now. Have you tried this? It’s a pain and I will have to remember to enable it again but it does work on my mac (but assumes all the issues have the same underlying cause/bug).
I’ve been using the browser to access plex on the Mac. Has been working fine in the meantime.
I’d prefer not to make server side changes if all the other clients are working. Seems to point to the Plex for Mac application being at fault to me.
Yeah, it seems to be caused by the latest UI version going into a infinite loop of reloading whilst the “updating library” notification is active.
Seems the latest UI has a bug around how the page is updating with that notification being displayed.
Definitely affecting the web app
