Plex for Roku cannot play FLAC in an MP4 container

Audio-only m4a files containing a FLAC stream won’t play at all. Trying to play one results in the following message: “We’re unable to play this track, make sure the server is running and has access to this track.” Plex will play an mp4 video file with a FLAC audio stream, but will not output any audio. Both files play as expected in the web player. FLAC is supported by Roku, so it seems like the Plex app just needs to ask the server to remux the streams into a compatible container. Disabling “Allow Direct Stream” in the Roku app does not allow the audio in either file to be played.
