Payback of investment calculated at 4 years(lifetime subscriptions). Now I want a Plex client for them and I'd be a happy puppy. As of October 31, 2011 , there were approximately 2.0 million subscriptions to the TiVo service through their TiVo-Owned boxes. I don't know the numbers for DirectTivo. Even if you sell the client app for $1 and advertise it properly this could be pretty nice pocket change for someone talented enough to take the Linux client and compile if for Tivo. I believe Tivo is based off of a Linux distro. Tivocommunity has a streaming product called streambaby that must reside on one's computer but the gui is so ugly, basically folders driven. tivo has the ability to upload programs to the tivo but i don't know how they should be written. You all could do this much better. Anybody want to try?
If someone was good at java and understood the basic of plex design then they could make a TiVo HME for plex. I just wish I had a good handle on java or I would do it.
TiVo has never said they are coming out with an apps platform on the units. They have the HME which allows you to use stuff like streambaby but nothing beyond that. You might be thinking of the TiVo Platform SDK which is used to make apps for the Ipad, Iphone, Android to communicate with the TiVo which give you more access then just HME but even those use a bit of the HME process.
They are thinking over reversing some of the apps they currently have and adding some new one possibly.
As You have probably already done, You can access Your Tivo from plexapp on mac os x, but not from IOS, even if you can see the TV app.
Here is a way to see Your Tivo recordings (at least how I did it):
On my iMac which is on my home network, download iTivo
Connect iTivo to Your Tivo and subscribe to the shows You want,
In Itivo preference, choose create pytivo data
Set a folder for recordings
Choose a quality (I did quicktime H.264 3Mbs)
In plex media server, add library section, Movies, give it a name f ex Tivo Living Room, choose plex video files scanner, personal media, and then add the folder that you created under 4.
this is a quick patch that is easy to do with No programming skills needed
I agree this really would be great to have this for TIVO. can someone out their consider programming it? check another thread for users willing to help fund it (including myself)
Why is nobody working on this client for tivo? Tivo actually has over 5 million subscribers on the premier boxes… Why is there a roku app when there is 1/100 the amount of roku’s out there as Tivos’s? I would be able to access my Plex server through my tivo boxes on all tv’s, why is this such a hard concept for the Plex developers?
Are there any plans for this? The TiVo already does Netflix and YouTube. If it did Plex, I could get rid of my Roku. The new Roamios are significantly faster than the Premieres.

I get a lot of my content from the web and have since gotten a new 65" Samsung Smart TV. This is where I pull most of my content now to the Samsung Plex App. Plex on the Samsung Smart TV is fantastic. I can't believe how much less I have been using the TiVo.
