Source file is Zootopia ripped from bluray using MakeMKV on default settings. I first watched the movie a few months ago on web and didn’t change any settings with my Plex or need to adjust it to a different audio source for playback. I just hit play and it worked. Today, that is not the case.
Now I need to specify 5.1 or it will fail to play back on the default 7.1 audio and just hangs. It doesn’t seem to be doing anything for the 7.1 audio. CPU, hard drive activity, etc is near 0%.
I’m seeing similar with some of my movies with dts-HD MA 7.1 audio. Some play. Some I see the spinning circle and the movie never plays.
As an alternative, consider using Plex for Mac/Win when watching movies on a PC or Mac. It direct plays many more codecs, such as TrueHD & dts audio and HEVC video. Web browsers have limited codec support, which limits what Plex Web can direct play. Plex for Mac/Win and Plex Media Player are based on mpv.io and do not have the same limits as Plex Web.
Normally that would be fine, but I am hoping to see this remedied for Plex for Web so that an installation is not required. I have a few instances where installing a separate app is not ideal.
