Plex (for Windows & Web) not playing in 5.1

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058
Player Version#: 1.4.1.940-574c2fa7

Hello,

So, as the title says, any audio coming out of Plex application or website in browser is 2.0 instead of 5.1. Whenever I play something from YouTube or any other website, or something locally from my computer, it is always in 5.1.

Is this a not supported or bug in Plex player?

Thank you.

You want to download and install Plex Media Player:

Is that not the ‘old’ version of Plex? I was under the feeling that you will scrape it at some point and Plex (for Windows) will take over. Does the new one not have all the features from Plex Media Player? Thank you.

Plex Media Player, PMP, is the only Windows/Mac Plex client that can pass multi-channel audio. Edit: There is also the Plex for Kodi add-on and PlexKodiConnect.

Plex Web and Plex for Windows/Mac (the new client) do not have that capability.

PMP is staying around to address the needs of HTPC users. Details in the Plex Blog, https://www.plex.tv/blog/desktop-af/.

To access the audio options in PMP, first enter TV Mode by selecting the “TV” box in the upper right portion of the PMP window. Then click on your username and select Settings.

Oh, right! I must have missed that news about Plex Media Player.

Thank you very much for the tip, I will give that one a try again!
