Plex for Xbox One leaves Plex Pass Preview

this leaves me to think that I may need to setup a separate media server?
Do you have a Plex Media Server already setup and running? The Xbox One Plex app is a client that streams movies from your Plex Media Server (Or other server’s shared with you). If you do not have a server or shared server’s then the App has nothing to connect to.

I also went to the https://plex.tv/link website and its asking me to Enter the 4-character code displayed on the app to link with my account? But I didn’t get a code?
Unless your Xbox Live account is already linked to your Plex Account the code should appear the first time the app opens with that account. If that is not the case you can check your Plex account by going to: https://plex.tv/users/edit Near the bottom of the page you should see Single Sign-on Authentications If you have an entry for Xbox One that means your account is already linked, if you have not done this then you should select Delete authentication.

Can anyone recommend other media server S/W that I can run on the Xbox?
There currently is no Server software that you can run on the Xbox One.

Hi many thanks for the feedback… I have tried deleting the authentication, this was even though there was already an entry for my Xbox, should I have done this?
I have also tried connecting again but its still says no server and advised me to go to http://help.plex.tv/noserver, however this link does not exist?!
I think ill try uninstalling the app (again) since ive just removed the authentication to see what that does…will keep you posted…

If there was already an entry, it just means that next time the Xbox App launches it will give you a new 4 digit pin to re-link to your account

That page should redirect to this(At least it did in Chrome for me): https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/204604227

I hope this means they will remove the check for “content rights” with xbox live. Everytime the service goes down Plex is unusable! I will not be renewing my membership if this is not fixed!

The Xbox Live requirement is a Microsoft requirement, so until Microsoft removes that requirement the app will always have to connect to Xbox Live when starting.

In addition, this isn’t a content rights check. Since the app isn’t even connected to your server during the Xbox Live check it would be impossible for the app to be checking for content rights.

Anyone know if there is an Xbox One Plex Pass preview channel similar to the Roku? I LOVE the new Preview channel for the Roku with all it’s new functionalities and I was hoping Xbox would have one as well since the channels are so similar.

No real reason to keep a membership anymore

Supporting the continued development of Plex?

Glad you said it as that is the main reason I keep my membership, imagine maintaining and supporting this over all these platforms! It’s insane what these devs do, borderline witchcraft!
