Plex Free in the future

Hi
I have been using Plex Free locally in my house for years.
Will there be any limitations using this compared to now when the new pricing gets implemented at the end of April?

See the FAQ section at the end of this blog post: https://www.plex.tv/blog/important-2025-plex-updates/
Free users will no longer be able to use remote access to their server.

As long as you only do local, nothing changes for you price-wise. In fact, it might even be more free than before, as the new iOS and Android apps no longer require a one-time payment or a Pass in order to watch on them.

As soon as you leave your house however, remote streaming is paywalled.

Thanks for the answers.
I only stream locally within my house from my NAS.
Are there any indications that this will not be a free service in the future?

There’s no indication for local playback to be restricted / requiring a payment or membership.

For now. But a month ago, I also wouldn’t have ever expected there to be a fee for remote streaming, and yet here we are.

The announced changes for remote streaming of personal content from a Plex Media Server apply only to movie/TV/video media. This does not affect music or photo streaming to our dedicated Plexamp and Plex Photos apps.

This is a nice exclusion.
