Plex stops the impact of remote playback for free users

At present, I use the domain name to point to the ipv6 address of the home server to remotely play the video scraped by plex server through infuse outside. The transit function has been turned off in the plex server, so the theory should be directly connected to the home server. I don’t know if my usage will be affected after the subsequent plex prohibits the remote playback function of free users?

Free users will no longer be able to stream video over remote connections.
They will either require

  • a Plex Pass for themselves
  • a Plex “remote streaming pass” for themselves
  • or the server owner needs a full Plex Pass for his account

See the FAQ section at the bottom.

What is a FULL Plex Pass, I thought that there was just one type of Plex Pass, but that it could be bought as a subscription or lifetime?

See the linked article.
A full Plex pass ist what we already have.
Additionally there will be the new " Remote Watch Pass" which is much cheaper, but does only unlock remote streaming capability and nothing else.

To be clear, there is no lifetime version of the remote watch pass. is that right?

So for anyone who wants to say thanks to Plex for years of usage and hope that it will continue, then $119 is a way to lock in all services for a lifetime?

Option 2: Remote playback with a Remote Watch Pass subscription (New!)

Our brand-new subscription offering, Remote Watch Pass, allows individual users to remotely stream media from any personal media server to which they have access. This is a great option for users who don’t run their own server and are looking to stream from a server belonging to a friend or family member who does not have a Plex Pass. It’s also a good alternative for server owners who may not need the full feature offering of a Plex Pass, but are looking for a more cost-effective option to access their media remotely. Beginning April 29, 2025, Remote Watch Pass will be available for an introductory price of $1.99/month or $19.99/year.
