Plex Free Movies : Meh

I know this has been discussed already, but I wanted to voice my feelings about this feature as a Plex Pass User (Lifetime).

I will never ever again watch a free movie on Plex for theses reasons :

  1. I have no choices over audio language and subtitles. How this is possible nowaday to offer such a poor service…

  2. Ads : as a Plex pass user I thought ads should have been removed or at least handled in a different way. On the movie “Origin Unknown” we had at least 10 interruptions with 1 to 5 ads. Non skippable and it was the same ads each time ! sometimes we had to see the same ad back to back.

  3. Plex Ads : in those ads, we were offered ads for the free Plex Movie feature, really !?

  4. Bad targeting : even though the movie was in French (thouhg I would rather have seen it in English with subtitles, even English ones), the ads were in English and probably mostly targeted to US citizen (COVID #AloneTogether ads etc…), I’m a French citizen so I couldn’t care less of those ads.

As a Plex Pass User, I would have accepted : a few ads before the movie, and one interruption in the middle; with ads pertaining to our country. If no targeted ads are available : why even airing them it’s a waste of money for the people who pay to air these ads !

So never ever again.

American Broadcast Television is:
Unwatchable
(about 7 mins of program then about 5 minutes of advertising)

When Young Sheldon started on Sept. 25, 2017 the episodes were 21 minutes long. The last episode of this season is 18 minutes long. Guess what they’re doing for those extra minutes of the time slot the actors don’t have to learn lines for?

Your description sounds pretty much like American Broadcast TV.
Although I think the pummeling you take may have a bit more variety - not so many repeats - if you don’t count Bounty: The Quicker Picker Upper.

This is why for all it’s flaws the BBC has many redeeming features. One of them is an hour time slot is 57 minutes of programme, the remaining 3 minutes between the last programme and the next shows you what is coming on the BBC.

All paid schedule TV should be like this, if they want to make money off of ads then offer a free to view option and cut the programme time down in size for that option.
