Plex Gets $50M in Funding

I just wanted to point out the latest funding news from Plex in case not everyone saw it.

From the Plex blog.

Then a couple of the two dozen plus news sites that added their take.

Hopefully some of this will be used to implement the top server related feature requests and not used purely for live streaming service plugins.

I’m thinking things like Multiple Cuts of Movies, Server Messages, and the trio of Multiple EPG Sources, TV Everywhere, and Reordering TV Channels.

Although in the live streaming realm I wouldn’t mind having a Movies Anywhere integration.

I can’t thank you enough kamhouse :+1:
I have been wondering whats been going on behind the scene with all those changes.
Changes I as a private user don’t care about.
Like getting rid of the back-Back-back functionality which closed the app and let me chose another Media providers app for their content.
As separate apps decrease privacy issues.

In the last couple of years the software had added a lot of new features and a lot of bugs.
None of it which I personally do not care about or want. Where as necessary and useful changes to the GUI and functionality has not been done. Like work as a service on a Windows server.
I essence, the changes have been to support their benefactor and not their original user base.
I do wonder if this will affect their old user base;
According to one of the articles, Plex major asset is the private user base.
I am just speculating, but if a majority of them migrate to an alternate software which provide better privacy or a platform, won’t this affect Plex in a negative way?
