Plex has red mark by remote access, but remote access IS working - what’s going on?

Server Version#: Version 1.42.2.10156-f737b826c
Player Version#: I don’t know where to find this

I borrowed & edited this thread title from a closed 2019 thread because I do seem to be having a similar problem but I just wanted to check something first…

I’m seeing the following:

But when I’m in car, I can play music with Plexamp perfectly fine.

So, I just wanted to clarify… Is using Plexamp in the car “inside my network”?

If that’s the case, can switch off remote access because I’m not in fact using it?

Or is there something else going on that I need to figure out?

I’ve recently moved my library over to a newer Mac. I don’t remember this being there before. This Mac is using Nord VPN, so I’ll mention that too, in case it’s important.

Most likely the relay. See https://support.plex.tv/articles/216766168-accessing-a-server-through-relay. You can disable it if you want via your plex servers - settings - network - enable relay.

Thanks. I suppose my main question is “do I need it?”

I don’t really know what it is & if Plexamp works fine when I’m in the car, I guess it’s not using a connection that’s outside my network.

Plexamp on the client might also have cached a certain number of tracks so best to check for that also (try and play something you have not previously played).

Regarding the relay, its really up to you. I have is disabled as I have full remote access setup so I have no need for it.
