Plex has started to play up again. Xbox. Says Buffering whilst playing. (insider dash, FIXED NOW)

This workaround stoped working on my xbox since the latest insider (alpha) update.
There was another workaround (changing the language), but it also stoped working for me. After i change my language back to the initial one the movie/series starts playing from start and still displays the buffering panel.

I know this problem isn’t directly a Plex problem because i heard that also the netflix app has some problems since the latest dashboard update, but i have to say that i’m facing many problems since this big Plex update last year.
The previous Plex version for xbox was much!

Please FIX this asap together with MS! Thank you very much.

Refund? Lol

Why would you be in the XB1 Preview Program (which has caused the fault) and then demand a refund?
Just unenroll from the Preview Program and your console will go back to a GA code no more problems

Joining the Insider program I knew what I was in for so no real complaints here. I just filed a report through the Insider Hub and I’ve just enabled the dlna server on the Plex Media Server and watch my media using the FILMS & TV app. All good until a fix is found.

Yes, a new update broke the solution, and a new update broke it further.
THIS IS WHY WE DO THE ALPHA!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, report the issue whilst in plex, hold xbox, and report.
Just say, “buffering hud does not go away” or something.

or LEAVE THE ALPHA, select the next level down, and wait for 2 updates! then you can use plex.
I did the above when a game would not work in alpha, you can just rejoin later.

Strange, DLNA is enabled but the Movies & TV App won’t see the plex server…

As of Update 1804 of XBOX’s preview program (alpha), they have noted this in the release notes:

“Plex App
In the Plex App some users are experiencing buffering. We are actively investigating this issue.”

At least they’re somewhat aware of the issue.

Yeah the workaround was great for a bit but now the app just crashes.

The update is caused by the Xbox Dashboard preview (Alpha and Beta rings currently). If you go back to the public release the Plex app will work as expected. The issue is on MS’ known issues for the current Insider release and is being worked on by them.

That worked at the time it was posted, it has since started having the issue you are seeing.

New Temp Fix.
whilst playing/paused
xbox. open film and tv. xbox. open plex. *(mine was already open, so the ftv app resumed)(maybe other app in jump menu works also?)
working every time now for me.
edit. it did… until i posted this, then stopped lol

Sorry to be the giver if bad news, it’s also affecting the beta guys also! My girlfriend uses Plex a lot on her Xbox, so I’ll take her out of the insider program altogether, but as I don’t use the Plex app that much on my Xbox One S, I’ll stay in the beta program… Here’s hoping this fixes this issue for my girlfriend as we’ve tried everything else…

See my reply here to your other post. In short, Beta ring probably doesn’t have the update yet since alpha just got it a little over a day ago. It is fixed in the Alpha build however.
