Plex hiding unmatched content

Recently moved my Plex content to a new machine, started with a fresh install of Ubuntu and Plex. When I scan my library files, Plex doesn’t match most of it. Originally thought it was permissions, but appears to be naming rules. As I’ve renamed content, it populates in Plex.

I’m having an issue specifically with Jurassic Park III (2001). I’ve tried every name, but Plex will not recognize it and add it to my library. Any help or workaround is appreciated!

Server Version#: Version 1.24.0.4897

Have you tried putting the IMDB tt number in the filename, as shown here:

I’ve had hiccups with movie titles that used Roman numerals before… sometimes putting the word “three” works better than a number or Roman numeral.

You can also do a “fix match” and I’ve had that work to find the right one as the top hit even when the automatch didn’t work.

The weird thing is that Plex is not even pulling the item into my library. The file name and permissions match all of my other content (including other Jurassic Park movies).

I’ve tried moving the files, changing folders, and everything else I can imagine but can’t get it to load.

Maybe check for duplicates … it might be matching to one of the other Jurassic Park movies. That’s where I usually find things if they seem to just not show up. If Plex can’t find a match it would show you an unmatched listing with a screen grab and the title would use the embedded info. A wrong match to an existing title would like it never got picked up by Plex like you’re describing.

My “Batman.The.Long.Halloween.Part.2” filename matched to Part One in Plex as an alternate version for example - I renamed it to “part.two” instead and it matched correctly in this case.

Edit: If you do find a “merged” wrong match you can also use the split function to break them apart if renaming and rescanning isn’t really working.

I prefer trying to rename and rescan for the automatch because depending on what I’m doing with files or updating versions it can re-merge. My fan edits of Star Wars movies have a habit of doing that…

You are a life saver! I had no idea that was even a thing. I not only found Jurassic Park III, but several other titles that had been merged together. THANK YOU!!
