I have a Linux Debian desktop with the Plex desktop client running. The Linux user has changed their desktop OS username which has also amended their Plex Home username. Why would this happen ?
I changed the Desktop OS username back and this behaviour has repeated.
I changed the Plex managed username back and also behaviour has repeated.
Plex is oblivious to the desktop user name. Nothing is amended to Plex user names.
You should be able to see a list of all members of your Plex Home here https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/plex-home
Hello, Thanks for your reply but I am not sure how a managed account can change their plex username? it only happened when they started using the Linux desktop.
I cant ask them how they did this as they are special needs child, non verbal.
Its not the first time that I’ve changed the plex username back but I will see what happens again.
He cannot. That was my point.
I don’t know what you are seeing, that makes you think the user has changed his name. But after looking at your account, there is only one user with a Linux desktop client. And it has always the same Plex user name.
Thanks again for the reply. Im not sure how else to explain this then sorry. Its really strange.
I have got one managed account and its been called TheBoys. for some reason the Linux Desktop user changes their linux username and the display name for the managed user also changes.
It says TheBoys now only because I’ve changed it back but they have been changing it to random letters.
I will now have to work out how to restrict the Linux username being changed and see what happens.
