Would it be possible to add a “Check for updates” feature (perhaps under Settings) in Plex HTPC?
On my setup, Plex HTPC is always on and it seems Plex is only checking for updates during initial startup, so I do not get any notifications when an new version is available.
The only way to find out is by restarting Plex HTPC, which does not happen very often in my case.
If you could add a “Check for udates” feature in Plex HTPC, or if the client could notify you when there is an update, I would love that ![]()
PS: If I remember correctly, you could check for client updates in the old Plex Media Player 2.58.

Yes, it did. When in TV Mode, in Settings → Main.
In the meantime, you can subscribe to the Plex HTPC announcement thread. You’ll be notified when the thread is updated (i.e. a new release is available). Scroll to bottom of thread, change Normal to Watching.
