For linux users on arch-based systems: I’ve created an AUR package that extracts the snap and uses as many system libraries as possible. See more here: Plex HTPC Arch package. No need to install snapd just to use plex 
For those on other base distros, you might be able to look at the PKGBUILD for a manual install on other distros as well.
