Plex HTPC for Raspberry Pi

Are there plans to release a version that will run appliance style on the Raspberry Pi 4?

Would make a perfect Plex streaming device.

I would love this!

I am currently using a Raspberry Pi 4 as my main media player. The Pi is connected via HDMI to a home cinema projector and runs Raspberry Pi OS (64-bit).

Via the following guide I managed to compile and install PMP: Raspberry Pi Plex Media Player - Pi My Life Up

Unfortunately, the PMP codebase seems abandoned and while the Raspberry Pi 4 hardware does support HEVC (h.265) hardware decoding, this does not seem to play reasonably in PMP.

I was happy to read that the new Plex HTPC supports Linux, only to realize that it currently only seems to support x86-64 via snap/flatpack?

Please add support for Raspberry Pi 4 /arm64 with hardware decoding! It is the perfect little media player.

Really? My Pi 4 can barely decode 1080p with a monitor attached at a stable framerate. Can’t imagine how poorly it would decode 4K HDR content.

I used to use a Pi3B+ to watch full resolution 1080 3D MKV files from OSMC or LibeELEC from my Plex server all the time. Not sure why you would have issues with a Pi4.

I use a Pi4 to watch UHD rips on my LG-OLED TV with LibreELEC No issues at all.
Give that a try.

I’m also searching for a player for my raspberry pi that isn’t a kodi app. Please make a version for the raspberry pi!
