I have a home movie theater that is also heavily control using PC. I have PLex HTPC installed on a high-end computer. Mouse is very limited. If I want to play a specific part of a video, mouse is inactive. I have to use the keyboard. With one click the mouse could easily take me to that specific position.
I honestly like the split between HTPC and the Plex Player.
On my setup I use Plex HTPC from the couch in the living room, mouse is not very practical. I control it with a small media keyboard instead. On my desktop I use the mouse driven program.
I am not a fan of having these 2 apps, because of this they removed companion support of Plex for Windows, and whenever I say something about it, they just say use plex HTPC but it doesn’t have mouse support so they tell me to use Plex for Windows, thanks to this now I would need to use 2 apps instead of 1 to do the same as before (golf clap).
OP plex HTPC doesn’t have mouse support and so far, they have expressed a negative attitude to adding mouse support, they have a you should use things “this way”.
The player is missing a VERY IMPORTANT FEATURE also. The ability to seek back and forth such as 10 sec back and 30 sec forward. I’m very surprised they left the player so vague. Every player has these simple well needed features. I understand mouse control from the cough isn’t practical. It will be hard for Plex to attract new windows users with the no mouse features.
Give the people what they need and keep them happy. That’s how businesses prosper.
