Plex incorrectly sorting music into album, single, etc

Server Version#: 1.25.6.5577 (but it happened before)

Plex tries to separate releases from a given artist into categories like album, live, singles, and so on. Unfortunately, too often it gets it wrong.

I’m using local metadata only on my music library, and the metadata do not contain any information about release type, so I have no idea where Plex is getting it from.

I’m just looking for a way to disable this sorting. I have no interest in it, but I haven’t found an option anywhere to change it. All I want is to have all releases in a single list (for a given artist), sorted by date.

Categorization is derived from MusicBrainz.

You can disable this feature In the server settings:
Settings > [Server Name] > Library > Group albums by type

You don’t currently have an option to manually change this inside Plex.

You can change bad categories on MusicBrainz… There’s a feature suggestion to allow overriding this categorization inside Plex.

OK, so I’ll just keep away from this set of features. Automatic sorting works fine for series and movies, but it’s dismal for music. I’ll keep managing everything by hand without any external service.
