Plex indicates that there are two versions of a television show but lists the same file

Are you sure you don’t have some small file (S08E01 - Road to the Multiverse.mkv) in your season 07 Directory as that’s what it look likes from your screen shots.

THis is why plex forums are worthless. “I can guarantee you that there is not a file for this episode that is encoded at 3kbps” Quote from my post that indicates I have already checked. But thanks for stating the obvious.

And if you were paying any attention at all, you would see that the file path and name are exactly the same, and last time I checked, the same file cannot be two different things unless we’ve entered some bizarro world.

Only trying to help, but those screenshots clearly show 2 different locations for the files, one in the Season 7 folder and another one in the Season 8 folder:

One here:

/home/moose/rackstation/files/tv/Animated/Family Guy/Season 08/S08E01 - Road to the Multiverse.mkv

and another one here:

/home/moose/rackstation/files/tv/Animated/Family Guy/Season 07/S08E01 - Road to the Multiverse.mkv

So Plex is listing 2 files in two different locations, (and to keep plex happy), they should really be named:
Family Guy - S08E01 - Road to the Multiverse.mkv

They are not the exact same though. One is in the folder for season 07, and the other is in the folder for season 08. Same FILE name, yes, but different folders. Just delete the one in the season 07 folder since that is obviously the “wrong file”, and move on. You don’t have to be rude to people, including the fine people at PLEX.

Proper Plex naming standard for all television episodes includes the Series name to avoid such ambiguities.
