Plex inventory in Soccer games

I recorded a mess of soccer this weekend through NextPVR. The file names that came over weren’t elaborate so not sure if that is the problem but after moving them out of TV Series and into an actual movie style folder…

some show ok but some show weird… one took the Trolls cover and the other…
Shaolin Soccer movie…

what is the “rule” for putting sports in plex to show up correctly. Is there a correct naming that needs to be done?

thx… I did search but didn’t find anything

There may be an agent that correctly handles soccer (real football) matches but I have not found it. I simply use a “Home video” library for sports it works OK but it is quite limited in that there is no metadata. I make sure the file name is good enough to identify the match and I include the matches date and time in the name.
As example I might have a file name like: ( Not a real match)
Man U at Liverpool - 2017-03-15 0830.MKV (Note I use local time for the time as it makes more sense to me)

I tried using the date/time first (Like- 2017-03-15 0830 - Man U at Liverpool.MKV to keep the matches sorted correctly but some clients cut the name after a number of characters and the date/time in front caused the second name to get cut off.

All in all I do not really find Plex good for sports but it is better than anything else, including the actual app for the sport/league involved. The MLS app, as example, is barely usable on the Roku so you get a better experience recording and using Plex where possible. Unfortunately most sources cannot be reliably recorded so I am stuck with the actual app.

Thanks… ill switch it to home movies… did that with my exercise videos as well and like you said… works just enough…

yep… as i record up to 20 matches per week… this is the only work around.
Now I am a footy addict so I do not care about who is playing (except for me hopeless fourth place champs) so i simply remove the time and add a_1, _2, _3 etc. watch and delete. I renamed them for awhile but there were too many per week to want to maintain for a couple hours each.
