Plex iOS & Apple Tv clients skip end of videos

Recently(maybe a month or so) Plex’s iOS and Apple TV clients started skipping the end of videos on me.
For example, I would be watching a show. When it gets to around 2 minutes or so left, it freezes a bit then stops playback and goes back to the show screen as if the episode is over.

This does not happen when I use the web client. Only on iOS and Apple TV.
It does not happen to all files, only some files. But it happens on them consistently.
How do I go about debugging this?

Plex Server running 1.8.1.4139 on Plex Pass Channel.
Using a 15" MacBook Pro with Quad Core intel CPU as the server. Hardwired to router.
AppleTV updated to latest softwares(OS, Plex App), also network is hardwired.
iPhone 6S. Everything latest updates.

this issue was introduced at the beginning of the summer, no one has ever cared or responded to it from the Plex team. I downloaded Mr.MC to watch videos on my Apple TV.

I’ve been experiencing the same behavior and it’s been driving me insane. I can’t find anything in the plex logs to understand why it’s happening.
