Plex iOS isn't able to play FLAC and .m4a / non-DRM'd Apple Lossless

My music collection has a variety of MP3 files, M4A / Apple Lossless, and FLAC. All of the M4A files are those which I ripped myself using iTunes, and do not have any DRM. The FLAC files also do not have any DRM.

I’m unable to play the M4A files using the iOS client connected to my Windows Plex server though. They all show up correctly in the library, but when I try to play them using the iOS app, I just see a spinner spinning forever.

It’s not tryint to transcode either - no activity appears in the Dashboard if I sign in to the web. It just spins forever and never plays.

All the MP3s instantly start playing if I select one instead.

Any ideas?

Which server version do you have installed (PMS)
Which Plex app (version) and what version of iOS?

iOS app: Latest (5.18)
Server: 1.16.4.1469

I just saw Server 1.16.5.1488 available today, which I haven’t installed yet, but it doesn’t mention anything about music playback.

I just updated to server 1.16.5.1488 and the issue is fixed! M4A and FLAC are playing without issues now
