Downloaded a movie, no subtitles available. Go into settings with an internet connection, choose subtitles from more sources, refuses to stick. Keeps saying “off”
Then download a local file, choose that, still says “off.” Refuses to see any subtitles. Saw a thread from a year ago about this on Reddit. Anyone have a solution? Everything is up to date.
Got the exact same issue with Plex for iOS v8.13 on iPad Pro (latest M2 model) and PMS 1.30.1.6497-1 on Arch Linux.

Having the same issue on iPad, subtitles are broken for downloaded files.
This issue is still happening on v8.14 on iOS.
Sort off the same Issue here. Using 8.14 on a iPhone 14 Pro. Have an Ubuntu, docker based server on 1.30.2.6563. Under advanced ‘prefer downloaded content’ is turned on.
What I found is that it matters which path you follow to the content. If just select the video in the same I would when it is not downloaded (so from on deck for instance), it get the same issues others describe. Content will play without subtitles and I can’t select any either.
However, when I go to ‘downloads’ and navigate to the video from there, it plays the content with subtitles the way it should. I can even select other subtitles and all works fine.
I have the same issue on IOS app version 8.16. On both downloaded and streaming.
