Plex iPad app has become useless

Server Version#: 4.76.1
Player Version#:8.3

Dear all,

I have been Plex pass user for a long time, the recent changes on the iPad app have made it almost not usable when using it offline.

I have around 600 movies on my iPad and every time I try to delete movies I have already seen the app freezes and afterward crashes. This is not the only issue I’m facing, it takes an average of 10 attempts till Plex starts without crashing when I’m starting Plex in plane mode.

What did they do the app? Previously with the sync option it was so much better, when I deleted a movie from my Plex server it was deleted from the iPad. There was no need to download to add the movies individually on the iPad and to make it even worse, with the screen required to be on as otherwise the downloads stop.

As anyone found an alternative on their iPads? I’m thinking of using infuse when I travel by plane.

Thanks

Best regards

I see quite a few cashes of Plex most days, especially when initially opening the app. I also see less than half of the download speed of Infuse at all times.

So for me, Infuse is more reliable/stable without question, but still has a few odd usability issues.

Is anyone working on improving the app? is there anywhere that we can send logs to help?

I am regularly finding that when I open the iPad app it is locked up with a spinning circle in the top right to indicate that it is doing something.

After a minute or so I get frustrated and force close the app. Reopening it always crashes, then a second re-open seems to bring things back to life.

Have you recently restarted your iPad, I have not experienced this issue on a iPad pro?

I have restarted the iPad many times, but that doesn’t seem to help. I have tried clearing the cache, which seems to fix the problem initially, but it comes back. I also have family members who have the exact same issue. I don’t have a pro, just the standard 7th gen.

My suspicion is that it is something to do with the new download feature, and that if I delete all the downloaded content then the issue will go away. But that isn’t exactly helpful.
