There needs to be a way for our individual Plex Servers to be able to work without Internet and the reliance on your backend servers. It strangle holds like this that make people leave a product.

There is a request thread from back in 2016 calling for this removal. If they haven’t changed by now they won’t. They are becoming just like all the others and pushing what they think is best for everyone when everyone is trying to tell then it isn’t.

Local Plex servers and most clients will work fine if you set secure connections on your server to “preferred” and set your clients to allow insecure connections “On local network” or “Always”
That is how my system is set and I never loose access to my server if my internet goes down or if Plex.tv goes down.
