Plex is not seeing embedded subtitles in MKV file

Hello all. I’m having a problem with my plex client on all my devices (iOS, TVOS, and ROKU). I’m trying to get subtitles from an MKV file. The movie in question is The Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition. If I play the file(s) using VLC on my windows desktop all the subtitle files are there and they play just fine. The Plex Client doesn’t see them.

The only wrinkle I can think of is that the movie is in two parts due to length. I’ve got them set up to chain together and appear as one title in the client.

The folder housing the 2 mkv files for each part looks like this:

The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) - pt1
The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) - pt2

I don’t know if this is part of the problem or not. Thank you in advance for any help offered.

Is this the only movie with embedded subtitles or do you have other movies in the same library which work with embedded subtitles?

Can you please copy the contents of the Plex XML info of this movie into a post here (don’t worry if it doesn’t show up at first, I can repair it.)

Judging by the file size, I think these are full Bluray remuxes, right?

Apart from the subtitle issue, I think you will get better results if you merge the two files to get one, contiguous file.

When you drag the first part into mkvtoolnix, as described in the above link, do you see the subtitle tracks listed?
