Plex has worked for me going on 2 years, with only a few problems.
But in the last couple of weeks we’ve started to have a problem where plex pauses or stutters when playing TV shows. Doesn’t matter how short the tv show is or how long. I haven’t noticed it with movies, just tv shows.
I run plex in a VM with 4 processors and dynamic memory. It never exceeds 15% on the processors, 70% on the ram (which usually doesn’t run higher than 4 gig) or 20% on the hard drive utilization.
The server it runs on, doesn’t really do anything anymore except host it and 1 other vm that is off part time.
It’s running windows server 2016.
The pausing or stuttering happens at least once a minute, sometimes once every 30 seconds and may only last for a few seconds to up to 15 seconds.
I’m at a loss as to what to do about it. I don’t know what’s changed, other than the version of plex I’ve been running.
I’ve tried changing how plex plays the tv shows, but it doesn’t matter, it does it on all variations.
I can’t watch ANYTHING at this point…everything pauses. I’m ready to delete plex and try something else so I can actually watch the shows I’ve downloaded, but that’s going to be a pain to set everything up again, so hopefully someone can take some pity and help.
