Plex issues on a LAN without Internet Connectivity

I have Plex running on a FreeNas box on my LAN. I assumed that when my connection to the internet failed, Plex would still work because it was on the LAN. Turns out, when my internet connection craps out, so does Plex. Any ideas on how to work around this?

Plex is normally needs the Internet to function properly. If you are using multiple users or any security such as restrictions to libraries you will need internet. If you regularly don’t have Internet access then I would personally look at using a rasplex client to watch plex. ( i have successfully done this at a Internet less cabin and it works well). However if you normally have Internet it is probably not worth the effort to make/let plex function with out the Internet at you do lose some features

You need to provide more details on what failed. PMS can work without internet if it had internet access previously. There are issues using Plex without any internet ever, but for outages, it should be able to keep running.

Under the Network settings, on the server, you might need to add your local network to the List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth.

Cheers.
