Plex just REORDERED EVERYTHING

Plex just randomly went through and completely re-ordered ALL of my movies. I’m so angry. The recently added, now has random movies from all years. It has completely reset everything I’ve done. I don’t understand how this happened. I spent days organizing the dates added in the Plex database. This is absurd. WHY THE ■■■■ DID IT DO THIS FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON AT ALL. It COMPLETELY EDITED THE DATABASE. and ALL the metadata.

I assume you are just letting out steam here, and not asking for help, since you provided close to zero info here to clearly describe your problem, nor log files or screen dumps?

Fair - yes It’s a bit of venting. But to better explain, my movie folder has just basically reset. It is rescanning all of my movies, and cleared out my collections. It’s essentially treating my already-existing library that has been in place for years, and treating it as if it was just added as a new library/folder, and doing a fresh, new scan. Resetting every “recently added” tag, and making it seem as if I JUST added over 1300 movies, which is chaos when myself, and shared users are trying to find new content.

Hurry, before it’s too late, and grap a copy of the log directory, before the logs roll over
When done, return here, and upload them
Also info about your setup, like version of PMS and Platform, external disks etc, as well as tell us if anything else happened with your server

And lastly, since you are a PlexPass user, SHUT DOWN PMS, and then look here:

And unsure here, but kinda suspect USB drives are in place here?

Wait. Are you suggesting that scheduled database backups are for Plex Pass members only?

I did, but was wrong :man_facepalming:
