I try to watch my own library over my home LAN and it says it can’t connect to the server. Requiring an internet connection for a local server to stream to a local client is absolutely ridiculous, who ever had that idea needs to rethink that decision.
on top of that the Plex DLNA server won’t work with any DLNA clients i have, my sony TV, or my PlayStation 4 just say playback unavailable.
I try to use the PS4’s media player but that has so many restrictions on file playback that very few are able to be played back, i mean files in the root of a flash drive aren’t even read, the files have to be in a folder. PS4 media player is just as useless as plex, sony might as well not have made it at all. Now the PS3 media player was far better it’s as if sony hired a different software disign team for the PS4.
I have decided to get rid of Plex and go with Kodi (formally XBMC) which does not need an internet connection to read locally shared network folders.
