I am curious about a way to get Plex for PS4 to connect to my local server without internet. The reason for this is that we are on satellite internet and only have a small bucket. I used to use the tweak for Apple TV3 to accomplish this but it died a while back. We really like Plex and have had it for years but it seems silly to me that it has to send my content that is on the same network out over the internet only to come back in. I have spent a few days looking on line for a way to do this and there does not appear to be a way. Is this something that could be added to the PS4 app? An ability to point the app to a local server in the settings or something?

Maybe even adding the ability to stream using DLNA to the PS4 app rather than having to use the PS4 DLNA. Plex has such a cleaner interface and just looks much more polished and finished compared to the Sony app.

I have figured it out. After a little more testing I have found that internet is only required while I am searching through the content. The instant I clicked a movie or TV show on the local server I unplugged my satellite leaving only the local network. I was able to move forward and backward through out the selected content with no issue. The only time I needed internet again was if I was changing content. Just looking through cover art should not use that much of our data bucket so this should work perfectly.
