Plex keeps auto changing movie posters

Whats the point of me being able to select movie posters, if when I choose a poster it just randomly changes back to the default main position. If the default was always a good option I wouldn’t mind, but every now and then the default option is the lowest resolution image that looks blurry on my 50 inch curved flat screen 4k tv. Sometimes, it’ll even choose a foreign language poster even though its a movie that was filmed in English for an American audience. I’m just surprised that this is how this app works on default, and there isn’t any apparent way to “lock” poster selection similar to how I can lock the movie title and sorting titles and other metadata.

I am using an external hard drive to store my media, the movies are sometimes in their own folder per movie but sometimes they are their own file with no folder. What are the steps I should take to stop this from happening? I already have “empty trash after every scan” is disabled.

Sounds like you have your server configured to do automatic library/metadata updates as part of its scheduled maintenance…
See: Settings > Server > Scheduled Tasks > Refresh local metadata... and/or Refresh metadata periodically

You do have a strange issue. From all my using/testing I have found that posters do get “locked” when you manually select them, even if you select the default one, that becomes locked.
I would have suggested “empty trash after every scan” but you’re already ahead of the game. The only thing I can come of with is asking for logs. That might show what is going on. If you are not up for that or nothing is found then you can always download the picture and store it next to the movie. Name it exactly like the movie. Refresh the file and the external picture should be displayed.

Has the TMDB issues been resolved?
