Plex keeps organising my episodes the wrong way, how to fix this?

I have a number of episodes of a tv show on my NAS with plex installed on it.

the episodes are from episode 750 - 800 , they are all numbered sequentially and in one folder.
ie : name-of-show-episode700.mkv

but plex keeps organising them in some weird way, it seems to have detected that the episodes are from three seasons : 0 , 7 , 8 (actually they are from season 14-15) and seemes to have misnumbered the episodes too, so bascially plex has jumbled everything together and arbitrarily split it into 3 seasons.

something this basic cant be this complicated.

I heard that plex basically forces users to work around its quirks and doesnt care what users want. I really hope this isnt the case since I would have no need for it then…

How can I get plex to just display my episodes as they are in the folder on disk ?

You need to split it into season folders, as well as use a naming like: myShow -S03E04.ext

See: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200220687-naming-series-season-based-tv-shows/

is there no way to just get plex to show whats in a folder “as is” rather than conforming to its demands?

isnt this a pretty basic functionality ?

Well… you can tell Plex to drop all the Plexiness and simply organize your tv show in an Other Videos library with the Personal Video scanner and agent.

As for “isn’t this a pretty basic functionality”:
It might be… but it’s not what Plex is about.

ah thanks a lot.
that seems to be just what i wanted

plex does a nice job for movies with enough metadata
but sometimes i want the option to have it do things the simple way

thanks again
