Plex Keeps Renaming & Mixing Up Files

Server Version#: 4.125.1
Player Version#: 10.12.1.370

I’m still new to Plex so I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong section. However, I have several videos that are not movies or TV shows. They’re simply various tutorial videos that I have downloaded over time and I have them organized into folders. Plex works pretty flawlessly so far but those videos (that I have stored under “Other Videos”) are mixed up and renamed.

For example, I have a Microsoft MCSA Windows Server 2016 folder. In it are 3 folders titled Microsoft 70-740, Microsoft 70-741, and Microsoft 70-742. Inside those folders are folders titled Section 01, Section 02, Section 03, etc. And inside those folders are the actual videos. I know this probably isn’t the correct way to organize the files but, again, these aren’t TV Shows or Movies.

When I go into each Section folder, the videos have been renumbered (for example 1.21 instead of 21 or 3.41 instead of 14, etc) and reorganized according to how Plex has renumbered them. This puts each video out of sequence. Each file is already numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. but Plex mixes them up anyway. Is there any way to force Plex to stop trying to “reorganize” the folders and just display them as I have them?

It should be possible to view your videos by folder structure. This is certainly possible in the web client because that is how I navigate my videos too. All the clients are different though, not sure it’s possible in all of them.

For this pic, my Videos library was selected. Then in the upper left menu, pick Folders.

If you are doing this and Plex is messing up the filenames, then I don’t know what’s going on.

Yeah, that is how I have mine setup as well. I tried renaming the files and folders but that didn’t help any.
