Please tell me why the video in 4k slows down, lags? I signed up for plex on a macbook air m1, installed the application on a LG OLED C1 TV, my internet speed is 50MBps, my laptop and TV are connected via WI-FI. video on laptop I downloaded DEMO 4k HDR only 400 MB, but even it slows down, it’s impossible to watch. what could be wrong? What is the internet speed required for streaming?
I’m not sure I understand your setup. You are running a Plex server on your laptop and a Plex client on your TV? And by “slows down”, you mean it buffers? Are you playing the video on your laptop or your TV or both?
So, first, my guess is that this is a processing issue rather than a network issue. My guess is that the demo file you downloaded is triggering a transcode because something about your TV’s client doesn’t support the video as is (you can check this either from the server side by initiating playback on the TV client and then looking at activity on your server, or on the client side under “playback info” – if it says transcode, this is the issue).
Second, your internet speed determines how fast your home network connects to the internet. Nothing you’re describing involves the internet, because the files are just being streamed across your local network. You should check how fast your local network’s wifi is. You can probably do this in either your laptop or TV’s operating system or by checking your router. It’s possible to have a router that supports very fast wireless connectivity but the laptop itself is connected at a lower rate because of signal issues or devices on your network.
In general the best approach with Plex is to put your server on a computer that has a powerful processor and is connected to your router via wired ethernet.
