Plex & LG TV

Today I visited the IFA in Berlin and saw the new Plex on a LG TV! It looks great on a it!

My congratulations to that step!

Is it correct, that Plex comes for Windows?

Thank you very much!

The media server will be available for Windows before the end of the year.

Jam,

I’m considering buying the LG LEX9 (Model: 72LEX9).

It will be released in April 2011 and it has Netcast.

Will it support Plex?

Thanks

Martin

Thanks for being understanding, spreading joy and keeping everyone happy to continue working the open source part of this project as well. You are truly an inspiration for everyone my friend and hope everyone continues in your footsteps.

Apology accepted :)
In that tweet it actually says "Unless something really bad comes up", and it sure as hell did (as always when developing software). The balance is all about pleasing the 30-40% of the users that REALLY want an estimation of when it is gonna be ready, and not getting the hopes up for to many people. It's a delicate balance act.
One of the devs estimated a date like a year ago, and after that he really wish he didn't because they decided to go another way in the development and it took them a long time to get it out. It is hard to develop with all that expectation :)

Does anyone know if LG will be adding Plex to current models with NetCast?

I’m currently looking at a 50PK950N

Are there any images/screenshots available that show what LG’s Plex interface looks like?

Any models that support Netcast will support Plex…I believe it will be a widget, like the Netflix one advertised on the Netcast site. As for support on current models…I doubt it. Must be a Netcast television, which has not come out yet. I’ll be curious to see if the bluray will be upgradeable via firmware…my only concern is a lack of decoding hardware within the machine.

Thanks, flow. That looks pretty great. But I still think reFocus is my choice for a skin/interface (I guess I'll be keeping the Mac minis :) )

I don't know where you're getting your information, but I currently own an LG Netcast enabled TV (55LE5500). I believe it's running version 6.xx of the NetCast software.

As a resident of Canada, I was extremely disappointed with the fact that in its present form, Netcast offers only two widgets in my country: YouTube and Picasa. In the US, there is lot more content available. My hope was that LG would expand their offering by developing or opening up more widgets for non-US customers. I have been readin about Plex for a while and I am a fan of what they do, but I am very worried about the possibility of updating the software on my television to be compatible with Plex.

Can someone confirm whether this will be possible or not?

IIRC, decoding will be handled by the media server and streamed to the front end. Similar to the IOS. Devs correct me if I'm wrong.

I watched them again and all of the functioning demos where using pc in the mix, but I see where they are going. Russ is right. The decoding portion on the tv with no pc in the mix will be interesting. Thanks for clearing that up flow.
