Plex Library Is Empty

I’m running Plex of my server (Ubuntu 16.04) I have downloaded movies and have them in my /root/plex/movies and /root/plex/tvseries none of my movies or tv shows are showing up I’ve tried renaming them to e.g… Film (Year)

Any help is appreciated.

Linux permissions are strict.

/root is about the worst place to put them.

make a directory in /home/media, give yourself full control of the files and let Plex read them.

How would i give my self full control of the files?

Not to seem insensitive but we’re here to help with Plex on Linux.
We’re not here to teach Linux.

There are countless GOOD tutorials on Google and YouTube.

I gave full permissions still showing nothing in there.

show me please?

I’m working with the server called “Server” http://prntscr.com/q7fa2q

Let me back up.

  1. Show me the directory permissions where you keep your media
  2. Show me how you define the the library (which directories you’ve listed)

when a library is completely empty,

a. user plex can’t read it
-or-
b. it’s not pointing where you think it is.

Is this a Ubuntu system and did you install from the Ubuntu store?

I installed with Docker

IMHO… worse. It’s a layer of isolation which only complicates

I recommend Install the native app from Plex.tv. You get the same performance and easier portability.

Alright, I’ll re-install.
