I have a love/hate relationship with Plex. It’s great when it works, but seems to be pretty quirky. I’ve had it lose my server a couple of times, and with it all of the settings in my libraries. I’m having so many issues, I’m not really sure where to begin.
I can play my videos from within the app.pex.tv desktop using my browser, but newly added videos no longer get added to the libraries – even when I manually scan – and artwork most artwork/posters no longer show.
Running Plex Media Server v. 1.24.1.4931 on a TerraMaster F4-421 NAS (“TNAS-00254D”). Using Windows 10 on my PC. All of my video files are stored on the TNAS. I’ve had Plex set up to run directly with TNAS-00254D as the server, and alternatively via my PC. In the Plex app, with the TNAS selected on the Settings page under General, it is showing “Version 1.19.3.2852”. Not sure if this should be the same version as shown on the TNAS, but also don’t see how to update the versions the app is using.
On the Settings page, TNAS-00254D is showing as “Indirect”, and I get an error message indicating that “app.plex.tv is unable to connect to ‘TNAS-00254D’ securely. How do I make this a direct connection? Or do I need to?
