The Live OTA TV crashing problem has recently returned. Seems only to affect 1080i live broadcasts, like the local news or live sporting events.
Allow MPEG2 and “experimental” are still checked. This had fixed the problem for most of us some months back.
Anyone else having this experience?
I’m using a Roku 4K express and I can get Plex to predictably crash every time when doing a mpeg2 stream.at 1080i when browsing the guide. This is still a bug, but I just work around it by using the plex app as a remote to pick the channel.
Haven’t seen any problems since the fix.
Totally not a helpful post, but this exact issue, whether Roku or Plex owns it - I suspect Roku more than Plex - is what pushed me to another client that handles the 1080i streams from my local channels SO much better.
@drinehart can you let us know what client you’re using that doesn’t have this issue? I run a Chromecast TV 1080 model (android) and it’s just as awful if not worse than the Roku client for live tv. I just don’t know what to do anymore, running latest plex on clients and server side.
I am using the latest ATV 4K + Ethernet.
