It’s been almost two weeks since I started using Plex, and I still can’t make it work properly. I will explain my problem here briefly. If someone could help me to fix it, that would be great. I am really trying to like Plex.
I am hosting my server using Synology 920+ NAS and have 2x 8TB WD drives using SHR. The problem I’m having is Plex won’t load sometimes or is loading indefinitely. Sometimes it plays after like 30 seconds, but it would start buffering and is unwatchable.
- I’m talking about streaming while in Local Network. (But while remote streaming today, I experienced the same problem)
- My internet speeds are 900mbps, and I use an Asus AX86U router. (I can attain those speeds using ethernet and around 600-700 using Wi-Fi)
- Plex Player on my Samsung S21+ loads forever and never plays the video (1st screenshot).
- But when it plays (about 30% of the time), it works perfectly without any stutters or buffering.
- Same issue with my Chromecast with Google TV downstairs. I can get about 400mbps on the device. Comparatively more successful play rate, about 70% of the time. When it plays, it does without any problems, but the same loading forever screen appears on Google TV too.
- On my S21, I think this is an issue with the app because when I choose an external player in the settings of the Plex App, the movie or video will play without problems (2nd Screenshot).
- Two days ago, I installed Emby to check whether if something was wrong with my setup. It had been working all the time flawlessly, both on my Google TV as well as my phone.
- The videos I tried included 4K, 1080p, 720p etc.

This instance when I opened the app to collect the Logs, I checked whether if the app was playing and it worked. I clicked the back button, went to the home page, and tried to play again. Now it was loading forever again. Tried 2 movies and was the same.
