Plex Media location

I have always been confused about the location of Plex Media, it appears that prior to DSM7 there was a Plex shared folder created which had multi lingual warning to not put media files there although it appeared that it was reasonably common to put media folders there, I am just installing a fresh setup of Plex on a fresh Synology install and there is now no Plex shared folder - which suits me fine, I create 2 shared folders, Primary and Secondary. Primary is backed up nightly and Secondary is backed up weekly and I like to put my media in a subfolder of Secondary - Is that OK or does it break any rules?

DSM 6: Do not put your media in /plex. That location is reserved for Plex use. Doing so will cause problems.

DSM 7: /plex no longer used for Plex data. OK to put your media there.

When you install Plex for DSM 7 the migration process will move the Plex data from /volume1/plex to the new location.
