I’ve been running Plex successfully for years from a Netgear ReadyNAS 104 on my wired home network. I have an M1 Mac Mini with OS 14.5. But recently I’ve been getting strange messages from Plex and my ripped DVDs will not play. I’m getting an error message ‘Limited Connection - MyNASname’. You are not connected directly to your NAS so streaming quality may be limited. When I try to play a programme from that NAS I get this message “Playback Error - Not enough CPU for playback of this item”. If I go to the Plex Settings it shows ‘Indirect’ beside my NAS name. I can’t think of anything I’ve done to explain the changes. And, weirdly, the Plex app on my LG TV Fire TV stick plays the same files fine. Everything is on the same home network. My NAS works fine for file transfer and playback of video files I have placed on it. It seems that Plex on my M1 Mac thinks I’m trying to access my NAS server from a location that involves transcoding of the material rather than playback of undemanding DVD files. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
