Using ReadyNAS 214 on PC windows10 - Why won't my movies play?

I have been using my pc as a media server for a couple of year using external WD hard drives and never had any problems. I decided to “upgrade” to a readynas 214 and run plex off the server instead of my PC. Everything uploaded fine and for a couple of hours I was able to play movies on two different Roku boxes, remotely from an iphone and also an ipad. I added some more files to the library and now my devices will either NOT see the server, so I log out of everything and log back in and I can see the server, but then none of the videos will play.

I can see my library, search for titles, etc… but clicking the movies to play and it’ll will just spin until it eventually times out. I’m a newbie and have limited networking knowledge. I’ve googled the heck out of this and searched the forums and haven’t been able to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Or if I missed this topic/answer somewhere else please point me in that direction.

Hello? Anyone out there??

Sorry for late reply. Is it the same with all client and all types of media files? Could you please zip and attach your log folder - https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417-Plex-Media-Server-Log-Files - do this after you’ve restarted Plex and tried playing an item resulting in the error.

If you mean you’re running Plex Media Server off the ReadyNAS versus a proper server, then that was a bad idea. It’s quite likely your cell phone has more horsepower than the NAS does, which gives some perspective on how unsuitable it is for handling the work that PMS will be asked to do.
