I am a new Plex user doing a usability evaluation. I am coming from Windows Media Center. I have Plex Media Player and Plex Server setup on a PC. I have a few questions and would appreciate some help form more experienced Plex users. I put a ‘*’ preceeding the most important questions.
Questions:
*(1) When in TV mode I get “There was an unexpected error loading this library” in the Live TV & DVR tab. What is causing this and how can I fix it. Live TV seems to work in the desktop (non-TV) mode. TV mode seemed to work for a short time but now I get the error. I tried rebooting and “repairing” the PMP app using Control Panel/Programs.
*(2) I can see the grid channel guide in desktop mode but not in TV mode. Is there is no channel guide in TV mode? It seems like that is where users would most use it, where they can use the remote to surf and find a channel. There is a grid channel guide in desktop mode.
*(3) It takes 20-30 seconds to tune a channel on my HD Home run dual ATSC networked tuner. The PC and tuner are all on a wired GigE network. This is waaay slower then Windows Media Center. What is causing the slowness and is there a way to speed it up?
(4) Is there any way to add web pages and links to other applications as as plug-ins to the PMP GUI? i.e. for Netlfix, IMDBTV, Spotify, Blu-Ray software, etc.
(5) How do I manage streaming services, such as Crackle. I saw Crackle as installed at one point but I cannot find the correct place to manage content.
*(6) Are the audio and video settings only in TV mode? Is there a way to set the aspect ratio just for the current channel or show being played?
(7) Is there a keyboard shortcut to increment channels in desktop mode?
*(8) I pointed Plex server to my current collection of Recorded TV folder .wtv files but it does not see them. Any workarounds for this besides re-encoding them?
(9) Plex server finds more OTA channels than guide data channels. I realized that some are duplicated and I was able to point the OTA channel to use a another guide data channel. However, Plex server gives me an error doing this. Why? What is wrong with a second channel using the same guide data? Is there a workaround?
